Welcome to The Blessed Path. The Blessed Path is a site dedicated to a single topic. It is narrowly focused on answering the question “how does a Christian live in light of his salvation?” We will stick almost exclusively to the topic of personal ethics.
Why the need to address this question? Sadly, most of the Christian culture in America has failed to answer this question from a thoroughly Biblical basis. Rather than searching out all of the scriptures and building a solid foundation upon God’s law as the standard for right and wrong, it is far more common (and easier) to build an ethics around “community consensus.” The answer to what is right and wrong is defined by the group. The “Christian community” tells us how to feel about abortion, marriage, war, politics, money, education, and every other topic under the sun. We tend to find a “Christian community” that is most compatible with the ethics that we already hold dear. There is very little change needed.
The Blessed Path is about challenging this mindset. Community consensus can get it wrong, even covenant communities. Israel did on several occasions. If the community does not turn to the law of God it will not provide the right direction. Our “Christian communities” rejected the law long ago. The path they lead us down leads to destruction. They despise the law of God. We are no longer content to follow the “Christian community” down their path to destruction. We choose to echo the words of the man after God’s own heart.
“I find my delight in your commandments, which I love. I will lift up my hands toward your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes” ~ Psalm 119:47, 48
We assume the work of the Holy Spirit in those that venture down this path. This path is for the converted man or woman who desires to live a life pleasing to God, but just doesn’t have a clear direction. This is a path for the one who “delights” in obeying their LORD.
“Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the LORD!” ~ Psalm 119:1
